Movies

I honestly don’t understand why I’m watching (and re-watching) so many movies when I have papers to do, and chem/physics to finish.

  • West Side Story (rewatch):I can’t even watch the last 10 minutes of West Side Story because they always give me so many feels, and that scene with Anita in the candy shop is just so well-done. For some reason, I really like Bernardo. (creys)
  • Spirited Away (rewatch): Just kidding I didn’t even watch this, but listening is enough. Never been a great fan of this, and probably never will. Absolutely fantastic music though. (Joe Hisaishi is amazing.)
  • Totoro: For some reason, I really didn’t like it. It’s adorable, but it’s also plotless/pointless. I felt like I wasted a good 88 minutes of my life after I finished. It’s like the Boys Over Flowers of Studio Ghibli—must-watch, but bad.
  • Grave of the Fireflies: Beautiful and depressing as hell. It’s not sobbing sad, but just really really depressing. A very well-done and artistic film. It’s also plotless (is the lack of plot a Japanese movie thing?), but it has much more depth to it than Totoro. I liked it, but I probably won’t watch it again.
