To-do
Tetris Battle: Move up and (continuely) own Justine. Buy books: I’ve been scouring Goodreads, Amazon, and B&N this past week looking for great books. List so far: 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami, Kafka on Shore by Haruki Murakami, The Number Devil: A Mathematical Adventure by Hans Magnus Enzensberger (Crimes and Mathdemeanors sounds good too!), Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky,...

Accomplishment of the Day
JUesato read The Little Prince after ten months of persuasion! My conversation with Jon on the book was very enlightening—perhaps even life-altering. I feel like I have drifted from the lessons the prince has taught me.

Life Lesson #25: “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas I don’t remember much from the Pocahontas movie. I watched it when I was really little and the story didn’t stick to my head as much as The Little Mermaid or Mulan did. In fact, when I got to APUSH, I had to memorize who Pocahontas married because I didn’t know it already. -_- But having been obsessing over...

Discipline and Respect
Last Saturday, my group for ICS9 met up for filming the presentation. I thought it would take at least five hours since we didn’t do anything before that but we finished in three. But that is besides the point. During the meet-up, one thing unnamed male A said really ticked me off. The following is the loose script of the event (actions and mental thoughts are in parentheses): Cast: A:...

Procrastination, Lawyer-ed, and Other "Exciting"...
This week I had too many due dates, most of them due to procrastination. Monday: I looked over the trial several times, picking out questions for the direct- and cross-examination. Writing the opening statement took longer than expected but I finished at around 2AM—not bad considering I was fairly distracted. I also got all my articles for the research paper. Tuesday: I realized I had a...

shortformblog: Westboro will picket the VA Tech funerals #GodSentTheShooter they died for proud sin and for crimes against God and his servants. #WeWarned — Shirley Phelps-Roper (@DearShirley) December 8, 2011 Thanks for clearing that up for us, Shirley. Will Westboro Church ever stop? Being disrespectful to the deceased is going over the limit.

Late Night Rambles
There’s nothing like listening to classical music in the middle of the night. The quiet of the night makes you appreciate the instruments’ resonance so much more. I definitely wish I could play half these songs on piano but alas, my skills have deproved to such a miserable state. Maybe I’ll do some good brushing up second semester on both piano and flute. I can’t believe I...

Almost a Paradox
Consider a situation in which a father and his son are driving down the road. The car crashes into a tree and the father is killed. The boy is rushed to the nearest hospital where he is prepared for emergency surgery. On entering the surgery suite, the surgeon says, “I can’t operate on this boy. He’s my son.” I see what you did there.

Hair
It is very windy today. My hair was flying everywhere because the one day I decided to not tie it up (and consequently not bring a hair tie), the wind starts going apeshit. I looked as if I was touching a Van de Graaff generator all day. Static electricity is not very comfortable. Life Lesson #24: Windy days call for hair ties.
